The situation of Alfredo Cospito - the militant of the informal anarchist federation who has been on hunger strike for over a hundred days to protest against the 41 bis - "is deteriorating rapidly , even if the fact that he has resumed taking at least a little sugar makes it a little less dramatic.

This is the testimony given by the anarchist's personal doctor - who visited him today in the Opera prison, in the Milanese area - to the defender, the lawyer Flavio Rossi Albertini. The doctor reported seeing the 55-year-old "very tired and weary" for the first time : "he arrived at the visit walking on his legs but immediately sat on the couch," he said. In addition to liquids, water and especially tea, Cospito is taking two tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon of salt, while refusing supplements and vitamins. He has lost another kilo, he weighs 70, a threshold considered "at the limit" for a man of his height.

The doctor also told his lawyer that Cospito has a "very marked muscle atrophy" and that since he started taking sugar again he has had "problems, with abdominal pains" . The pressure and oxygen saturation values "still hold up well", the electrolytes "confirm a low but still stable sodium value". For this reason, given the overall picture, the doctor asked the lawyer to bring forward the next visit "to the middle of next week".

To support Cospito's protest, a demonstration in Turin is planned today, with militants of the anarchist galaxy from all over Italy. Thirty anarchists have already been arrested in the past few hours.
