Over 25 kilos of cocaine, hidden inside 5 wheels of Parmesan cheese and found in the province of Asti in a van headed for Sardinia.

The discovery, dating back to June 2022, was made as part of a vast anti-drug operation (called "Carlo Felice") throughout Italy by the Guardia di Finanza of Turin which led to the dismantling of a criminal association dedicated to drug trafficking drugs operating in the Turin area, in the province of Asti and with branches in Sardinia, Lombardy, Veneto, Tuscany and Sicily.

The Fiamme Gialle, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office, District Anti-Mafia Directorate, of the Piedmontese capital, have implemented a precautionary custody order against 10 people (7 in prison and 3 under house arrest). More than 100 kg of drugs seized that would have generated illegal revenues of 20 million euros. According to the investigators, at the apex of the organization there was a 37-year-old of Albanian nationality and the group was made up of Italians and Albanians.

The criminal association obtained large quantities of cocaine from abroad, in particular from Holland, and arrived in Italy in vans. The cocaine was then stored in warehouses in the provinces of Asti, Alessandria and Cuneo and in other areas of northern Italy, including the province of Rovigo. Through couriers it was finally distributed in various regions, including Sardinia, to end up on the drug dealing squares.
