He had ingested a candy and was about to suffocate: to save a three-year-old child was the barber, a civil protection volunteer, who practiced the unblocking maneuver.

This is the episode that took place in Rubiera, in the Reggio area .

The child had been accompanied by his mother to the salon to cut his hair and, after some whim, the barber offered him a candy to reassure him. Shortly thereafter, the baby began to breathe with severe difficulty .

"I immediately decided to implement the Heimlich maneuver - the barber Massimo Gabrietti told the newspaper - and in the meantime I called 118 who provided me with support and further information".

On the spot, the rescuers who accompanied the child to the hospital for further investigations intervened.

"Fortunately he is out of danger and we managed to save him - said Gabrietti who remained in contact with the family - I only did my duty, I am a civil protection volunteer and I took part in first aid courses".
