Late yesterday one of the two robbers who escaped after stabbing an off-duty carabiniere who was trying to foil a robbery in a Turin pharmacy turned himself in to the police.

It is a 16-year-old Italian who presented himself to the Madonna di Campagna police station, is in custody while the carabinieri continue the search for his accomplice.

The injured, 53, was hit by three blows and is hospitalized, undergoing an operation and is now out of danger. He was in the queue at the pharmacy counter when he witnessed the robbery by two misrepresented bandits. He intervened, qualifying. To distract them, he threw some medicines at them and one of the thugs, frightened, pulled out a gun - a scacciacani - firing blanks. The carabiniere was not intimidated and tried to block them but was stabbed, at least three, to the chest and leg. A blow would have affected a lung. It would have been the 16-year-old who wielded the blade.
