Dozens of trains were delayed , many were cancelled, due to the "power line failure" that occurred this morning around Milan Central Station.

The timetables reported delays of up to 160 minutes, "set to increase", as explained by ticket office workers.

"It is recommended to avoid or limit train travel to those that are strictly necessary and to reschedule postponable trips," is the invitation issued by the Trenitalia website.

Circulation suspended for a long time from Milan to Genoa, Venice and Bologna due to "technical checks", as reported by Trenitalia, which has arranged a full refund for those who have given up the trip .

The causes of the breakdown are being investigated . Assistance has been increased, including with kits and comfort items, and information on board the train and in all stations affected by the delays.
