Bitten in the face by a pit bull, a five-year-old girl in serious condition

Attacked in the street by a pit bull and bitten in the face.

A 5-year-old girl was transported to the Bari Polyclinic with serious injuries.

The episode took place this morning in the Apulian capital, San Paolo district, while the little girl was on the street with her mother.

After the attack she was taken to the emergency room of the San Paolo hospital, then urgently transferred to the Polyclinic, where she is in a reserved prognosis.

The little girl is not in danger of life but the doctors define her conditions as "serious".

At this moment it is undergoing some tests and in all likelihood a reconstruction surgery will be required, which will be performed by the plastic surgery team of Professor Giuseppe Giudice.

"The child is very traumatized, unfortunately she has undergone the partial amputation of one ear and this afternoon she will undergo a first reconstruction surgery but others will be needed later", says Giuseppe Giudice.

"Now - explains the professor - the little girl is subjected to a CT scan to verify that she has not suffered other internal injuries, having been thrown to the ground by the dog. She is not in danger of life but the injuries are serious".

"Unfortunately - adds the head physician - it is not the first case of its kind that we see, pit bulls in my opinion should not be bred and marketed, they are very dangerous. I love animals and dogs in particular, but we see too many cases like this one. child who will carry this trauma forever "
