Everything to be done again, once again. The detentions of all 43 migrants who were brought two days ago to Albania aboard the Cassiopea ship have not been validated . The judges, according to what has been learned, have suspended the judgment and referred the documents to the European Court of Justice. The asylum seekers will arrive in Bari tomorrow evening, Saturday 1 February, accompanied by a Coast Guard patrol boat.
A film already seen : even the previous transfers of migrants to Albania organized by the government were thwarted by the decisions of the magistrates of the immigration section of the Rome court, who did not validate the detentions ordered by the police headquarters of the capital.
The Court refers "the case to the Court of Justice of the European Union", it says in the 25-page ruling . "The trial - it says - must be suspended pending the decision of the Court of Justice. Since the suspension makes it impossible to observe the 48-hour deadline for validation, the release of the detainee must necessarily be ordered".
The migrants, who remained in the repatriation detention center in Gjader, came from Bangladesh and Egypt and had applied for asylum.
The government lets slip "great surprise" at the magistrates' decision , because "in our opinion there is no need to wait for the ruling of the European Court of Justice", state unspecified "sources" of the executive. "Yet another invasion of the field of judges that damages Italy and makes the left and illegal immigrants happy", thunders the number 2 of the League Andrea Crippa.
"Giorgia Meloni should resign herself, the centers in Albania do not work and will not work, they are a resounding failure ", declares the secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein . "The public resources wasted are increasing disproportionately due to the government's obstinate will not to respect European laws and sentences. We will ask for an accounting of all the costs sustained by the State in this mission. According to our estimates, we are now at over a billion euros that could have been invested to hire nurses and doctors in the emptied departments of public health".
