A 34-year-old Sudanese man, David Jhonny Moahmmed , accused of the murder of Fabrizio Statzu which took place at Margine Rosso in 2017 ( HERE THE NEWS ) and wanted internationally after escaping last October 19 from the residence for the execution of security measures (Rems) in Bari, was arrested by border police officers in Ventimiglia, during routine checks at the train station. The man was without documents.
After checking fingerprints and databases, the police discovered that the foreigner was responsible for numerous crimes, including the murder committed in Sardinia seven years ago.
Having been judged incapable of understanding and willing (and acquitted), the man had been subjected to a detention security measure in the Rems of the Apulian capital, but from there he disappeared without a trace.
As part of the border area services, strengthened following the decisions of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security chaired by the Prefect of Imperia Valerio Massimo Romeo, it was possible to stop and identify the man, considered to be a high social danger, and bring him back to the facility from which he had escaped.
