Accident at work, lumberjack dies crushed by freshly cut tree

Fatal accident at work in the Bolognese Apennines .

It happened this morning along the path of the "Via degli Dei" , in the locality of "Le Croci di Monzuno", where a 38-year-old woodcutter died , crushed by the trunk of a tall tree that he had just cut and which fell on him, landing on his chest. The victim was the owner of a company in the area , specialized in this type of intervention. He was working in the wooded area together with a colleague who immediately gave the alarm to 118 after the accident.

The firefighters were also on site, together with the helicopter of the Bologna flight department and the staff of the Alpine Rescue, but there was nothing they could do for the man. The Carabinieri of the Vergato company and the officials of Occupational Medicine intervened for the legal findings, who are carrying out the checks to accurately reconstruct the dynamics of the incident.
