Two municipalities in Cilento are in shock over the death of Antonietta Delli Santi, 26, who lost her life due to Covid after months of agony and after having given birth to her second daughter, who was born premature at only 24 weeks and died she too last September.

The young woman, originally from Montano Antilia but domiciled in Ascea, had not been vaccinated. She tested positive for the virus in August while she was expecting her second baby. Little Sharon was born prematurely after mid-August due to the infection and was immediately transferred to intensive care, where her little heart stopped beating on 9 September.

And today, after more than two months, Mamma Antonietta also lost her life in the intensive care unit of Federico II in Naples. In the meantime she had become negativized, but the consequences left by the infection on her lungs were too serious.

Like many pregnant mothers, Antonietta had decided not to get vaccinated, a choice that proved fatal.

And in this regard, the president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, spoke: "A few hours ago a young mother hospitalized in Naples died for Covid almost two months ago," he said, also recalling the death of the newborn baby. "These dramatic episodes remind us that when we talk about Covid we must never trivialize. Today we record an aggressiveness of the virus even for the youngest groups, I believe it is a duty of civility to complete the vaccination campaign".
