Rilevata con le onde gravitazionali una collisione di stelle di neutroni
Per la prima volta nella storia dell'esplorazione spaziale la fusione di due stelle di neutroni è stata osservata sia dagli interferometri, grazie alle onde gravitazionali, sia dai telescopi Sulla Terra e nello Spazio. È stata osservata in pratica la prima luce emessa da una sorgente di onde gravitazionali, scoprendo, tra l'altro, che in quegli eventi chiamati Kilonovae, si formano elementi chimici pesanti, come oro e platino, "spruzzati" nello spazio-tempo dal cataclisma cosmico.
