Hundreds of people have died, and over a thousand people are still missing. Many are foreigners, with about ninety Italians in the area, but Tajani reassures: "The two people involved are in good condition."

The Interior Minister: "Procedures have also been initiated to activate additional facilities in six regions." At the next EU summit, a plan "to counter mass illegal arrivals" will be presented.
