Ukraine "must do everything to end the war in 2025 through diplomacy" but starting from a "strong Ukraine". This is what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced of in an interview with Radio Ukraine, the day after the phone call between Olaf Scholz and Vladimir Putin.

" How can there be negotiations simply with a murderer? If we talk to Putin and are not strengthened in the conditions in which we find ourselves, it is not a just peace," the Kiev leader said. Adding: "Trump's position is very important, America's attitude towards us is very important and the Americans are on Kiev's side today."

As mentioned at the beginning, negotiations to bring about a ceasefire were the subject of a telephone conversation yesterday between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Vladimir Putin , with the former calling on the Kremlin leader to withdraw his troops and sit down at the negotiating table.

US President-elect Donald Trump also said that "the war must end". In this regard, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented: " I have no idea how the US president-elect can resolve the conflict in Ukraine, but we will wait for his proposals".

“We regularly emphasize, when asked, that a politician who says he is not for war, but for peace, deserves attention in any case,” Lavrov continued.
