Stop in London for the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky who, in the British capital, met the prime minister Rishi Sunak .

The confrontation between the two at Checkers Mansion , where Sunak recalled how his illustrious predecessor Winston Churchill gave some of his most famous speeches during the Second World War.

“Equally, today your leadership, your country's courage and fortitude are an inspiration to all of us ,” Sunak said addressing Zelensky.

The UK has pledged to supply hundreds of air defense missiles and long-range strike drones to Ukraine to repel the Russian attack.

Zelensky's unplanned surprise visit to Britain is the latest stop on a tour of Europe by the Ukrainian president, who has also visited Italy and the Vatican, France and Germany .

Sunak also launched a global appeal to Western allies to support Ukraine militarily "at this crucial moment" , referring to the counter-offensive by Kiev's troops against the Russian invasion.

Sunak undertakes to carry forward his appeal during the next international summits at the Council of Europe and in the G7 .
