Xi Jinping re-elected as President of the People's Republic of China.

For the leader - who will turn 70 in June - it is the third term in office and he is preparing to become the longest-serving Chinese head of state since the Communist victory in 1949.

Confirmation of leadership came from the National People's Congress, the legislative branch of Beijing's parliament.

His reconfirmation, for another 5 years, was taken for granted after the unprecedented third term at the helm of the Communist Party obtained at the XX National Congress of the Communist Party of China last October.
