Putin then expressed confidence that trade turnover between Russia and China will cross the $200 billion mark this year . At the same time, he wrote, it is important that "the share of settlements in national currencies is growing in mutual trade and our relations are becoming more and more sovereign."

For his part, Xi Jinping talks about how his proposal on how to resolve the Ukrainian crisis reflects "global visions" trying to reach a synthesis, while acknowledging that "solutions are not easy".

The Chinese president then announced a plan, drawn up by Moscow and Beijing, "for the development of strategic interaction and practical cooperation" between the two countries.

Russia and China - added Xi - intend to work together to promote "multilateralism" and "global governance in a more just and rational direction", based on the principles of the United Nations.
