Half a million Poles took to the streets of Warsaw today to demonstrate against the nationalist and populist government in power, a few months before the autumn legislative elections.

This was announced by the municipal administration of the city.

"The Town Hall estimates" the participation "at 500,000 people at the moment," said Jan Grabiec, spokesman for the organizers of the march, which appears to be the largest in this country since the end of communism in 1989.
