A 30-year-old man arrested yesterday after plowing his car into a crowd, killing 11 people and injuring dozens more, at a festival in the Filipino community of Vancouver, Canada, has been charged with murder .
“The British Columbia Prosecutor’s Office has charged Kai-Ji Adam Lo, 30, with eight counts of second-degree murder ,” police said in a statement, adding that additional charges are expected.
He appeared in court before being returned to custody. He acted deliberately , police said.
No motive has yet been confirmed for Saturday night's attack, although authorities have ruled out terrorism.
Police Chief Steve Rai said the suspect was driving a black Audi SUV and has a "significant history" of interactions with police and mental health professionals.
