The Spanish state meteorological agency (Aemet) has issued a red alert for the southern coast of Valencia. "In the next few hours, this area could experience severe thunderstorms: over 90 l/m² in one hour," Aemet reports on its X account. "In principle, these will not be very persistent showers. Extreme danger. Be very careful!"

All this just a few days after the terrible flood that devastated the area, with over 200 confirmed deaths (currently there are 214 in all of Spain, but the toll is destined to rise given the very high number of missing ).

In the afternoon, there were heavy protests by the population of Paiporta , one of the most affected areas, during the visit of the authorities (the two royals, the Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and the president of the Valencian community Carlos Mazón).
