Bad weather continues to plague the United States. In most of the country, temperatures remain well below freezing in what has been called "the coldest Christmas in 40 years" .

And the death toll also worsens, rising to 28 , reports Nbc, specifying that the deaths occurred in Oklahoma, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Kansas, Nebraska, Ohio, New York, Colorado and Michigan.

Thousands of flights canceled and millions of Americans without electricity. The electricity companies of many states have launched an appeal to save energy : in fact, with the cold the demand has exploded and the risk is of not being able to satisfy it. In Tennessee, short rolling blackouts have been decided to reduce consumption.

In New York, Gov. Kathy Hochul has deployed the National Guard near Buffalo, the epicenter of the winter storm , to help rescue hundreds of people stranded in their cars. Defying the driving ban, many actually got behind the wheel and then got stuck in bad weather.
