"The CHP has achieved a historic result and has decided how to govern our country and our municipalities," added Ozel, in a speech broadcast on TV.

During the night in Istanbul, the celebration of the supporters of the mayor who emerged victorious from the polls, Ekrem Imamoglu , reconfirmed with over 50% of the votes against Murat Kurum, the candidate supported by the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stuck at 40%, exploded.
