A "rigged show trial" in a "fascist" country orchestrated by Joe Biden, with a "biased" prosecutor and a "corrupt" judge who "looks like an angel but is a real devil".

In the aftermath of the historic guilty verdict in the porn star case, the first criminal conviction for a former American president, Donald Trump reiterates his innocence by announcing an appeal and relaunching his 360-degree attacks.

He does it with a 40-minute rally show from his Trump Tower fort, from which he announced his entry into the field in 2015. Trump's strategy remains the same: to shout about the conspiracy to increase donations by presenting himself on the official campaign website as "a political prisoner". For now it seems to be working, having raised the record sum of 34.8 million dollars in just a few hours after the verdict. However, his social network Truth suffered as a result, collapsing on the stock market.

“It all comes from the White House, from Joe Biden and his people,” accused the tycoon, defining his rival as “the stupidest, most incompetent and dishonest president in history.” Then the attacks against the judge, the prosecutor and a "very unfair" trial (despite 12 jurors we unanimously found him guilty beyond any reasonable doubt) where he explained that he had not testified because "if you say something slightly wrong they will then prosecute you for false testimony".

«If they do this to me, they can do it to anyone. This is more important than me and my presidency, I'm fighting for our Constitution. What is happening to me should happen to no president", he concluded, reiterating that "the most important day in US history will be November 5th", Election Day, when "the real verdict" will be. Then he confirmed that he will "appeal against this scam. We will appeal on various bases: he didn't allow us to call witnesses, he didn't allow us to speak, he didn't allow us to do anything, the judge is a tyrant."

“Trump threatens democracy and calls into question our justice system,” he commented on X Biden . "What happened yesterday in New York shows that no one is above the law... saying that a trial is rigged when we don't like the verdict is dangerous and irresponsible", declared the president, whose campaign however now risks being undermined by the two trials awaiting her son Hunter (in June for an illegal gun and in September for tax evasion).

Experts are divided on the effects of the conviction, especially among women, but polls indicate that already in recent months a portion of the electorate was ready to review their vote in the event of conviction in one of the four trials : a variable percentage, but potentially decisive in a head-to-head duel even in swing states. The punishment - the unlikely prison term of up to a maximum of 4 years, house arrest or a fine - will be decided on July 11 : during the NATO summit in Washington, with a parade of foreign leaders, and four days before the Republican convention who should crown Trump a “nominee”.
