The source stated that the Strait will remain closed as long as US "hostile actions" continue, and that ships will only be able to transit through a designated route with permission from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Navy.

A strong rebuttal, therefore, to US President Donald Trump 's statements, who a few hours earlier had said he had "agreed to withdraw the attack" on Iran at the request of Tehran "and other Middle Eastern countries" provided that "a rapid agreement" was reached on the "full opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the end of Iran's nuclear threat."

"The United States," Trump wrote in Truth, "is prepared to intervene against the Islamic Republic of Iran with levels of terror, force, and military power not seen since World War II. Despite this, we have been asked by Iran and other Middle Eastern countries to suspend any attack within the confines of an agreement that has been reached. This would include the complete, total, and immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the end of Iran's nuclear threat. In accordance with this request, I have agreed, for the sake of the future of the world and, equally, for the survival of a prosperous and successful Iran, to call off the attack, provided a swift agreement is reached.
