Having escaped the controls of the police, he was unable to escape the wrath of the crowd, which lynched him. Masten Milimo Wanjala, a 20-year-old from Bungoma, Kenya, was killed, arrested in July for killing two children aged 12 and 13 and who had confessed to killing at least 10 others, sometimes "sucking their blood from their veins".

Before presenting himself in the courtroom for the trial he managed to escape and when the news spread in the village the manhunt began. A group of people found him and beat him to death before police intervention.

The agents had barely managed to free him from popular fury and take him to prison. Horrible details leaked during the investigation after the young man had led the investigators where he had abandoned the corpses of the young victims: the children had been drugged, deprived of blood and in some cases strangled.
