Nine-year-old Haidar died when he fell into a well three days ago in Afghanistan. The dramatic news was given by Taliban officials.

The forces on the field deployed to save him were useless, with the whole village of Shokak, in the province of Zabul, which had mobilized to lend a hand.

The child was trapped at a depth of 10 meters: until yesterday he was able to move his upper body and arms, his father was able to talk to him and reassure him through a camera lowered into the hole. "We are working to get you out, don't cry," she told him, and Haidar replied, "Okay."

But the tragedy took place unexpectedly, as happened to another child, a few days ago, in Morocco. Rayan was even smaller, he was 5 years old, and he fell into the well at 32 meters. Even in that case the rescuers did everything to bring him back to the surface, to no avail.
