Around 1.2 million homes remained without electricity this morning in the north-west of France , 780,000 homes in Brittany alone, after the passage of storm Ciaran, with wind gusts that exceeded 170 kilometers per hour.

Storm Ciaran “caused serious damage to the public electricity distribution network in the north-west of the country,” grid manager Enedis said in a statement.

Weather warning , in particular, in the Channel Islands , where winds exceeding 160 km/h were recorded with authorities evacuating 39 residents of the island of Jersey from their homes. Jersey Police said on X that conditions are currently "dangerous", urging people to stay indoors.

The evacuees , including 6 children, were forced to abandon their homes due to the damage caused by the storm.
