An American family has asked NASA for 80 thousand dollars in damages after space debris hit their home in Naples, Florida.

The space "rain" dates back to last March 8: a cylindrical slab weighing almost a kilo, 10 centimeters high and 4 centimeters wide, coming from the International Space Station tore the ceiling of the house and tore the floor of the Oteros while their son Daniel was At home. Fortunately, no one was hit but two holes were created in the roof and on the ground.

The US space agency confirmed that the debris was part of one of its flight support equipment and that the plate had broken off in 2021.

Usually, this type of partial waste disintegrates upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere but evidently some part has remained intact. Now NASA has six months to respond to the family's complaint.
