Singaporean authorities today executed a 45-year-old woman accused of drug trafficking by hanging . The woman's is the first case in the city-state in nearly 20 years.

She had been found in possession of 31 grams of heroin , more than double the amount punishable - according to the law - with the death penalty. According to the prosecution, the doses would have been sufficient to feed the addiction of almost 400 addicts for a week.

Convicted in 2018, she tried to appeal the sentence with her lawyers. The attempt then failed, with the Court of Appeal rejecting his requests on October 6, 2022, including a presidential pardon.
