Manuel Desogus, 38, originally from Las Plassas, will be able to return to Sardinia after the serious illness that forced him to be hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité in Berlin.

The Region has, in fact, ensured the resources necessary to organize the medically assisted transfer to the island.

Confirmation comes from Labor Councilor Desirè Manca: "We couldn't stand by and watch," she declared, explaining that she immediately activated the relevant procedures for the Emigration sector.

The Department of Labor has funds earmarked for emergency interventions and contributions for returning emigrants. In this case, the councilor specified, these are ordinary and extraordinary measures provided for by current legislation (Articles 15 and 20 of Regional Law 7/1991), which provide financial support for repatriations for health reasons.

The matter was also followed by the Circolo dei Sardi in Berlin: the association's president and vice president, who visited Desogus in hospital yesterday, collaborated with the Region to expedite the necessary procedures.

Now we're waiting for final approval to arrange his transfer to a hospital on the island. "We're confident," Manca concluded, "and we hope that Mr. Desogus's condition will improve as soon as possible."
