"Six Russian missiles hit Cagliari". This is one of the scenarios hypothesized during the Joint Stars exercise to simulate an attack by Moscow against Europe.

In the simulation – which follows Moscow's "real" raids carried out in recent months in Ukraine – a good part of the enemy rockets and drones directed against Sardinia are intercepted by the anti-aircraft systems and the fleet deployed at sea. But six "threats" still manage to penetrate the defensive "dome" exploding, as mentioned, in the capital of the island.

A “test” carried out on a computer two weeks ago – writes Repubblica – created to “train” the allied armed forces to react and identify any flaws in the defensive systems . Because, as General Nicola Piasente explained to Repubblica, «we need a multilayered air defense that can act at low, medium and long distance altitudes . This is the priority».

The Joint Stars 2025 exercise – as stated on the Ministry of Defense website – was «the most important training event of the Defense which, under the guidance of the Joint Operations Command (COVI)», in April saw «numerous assets of the Armed Forces, State Armed Corps and other ministries and agencies» deployed in Sardinia.
