Pyongyang launched a ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan

North Korea has launched at least one unidentified ballistic missile into the East China Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan. The South Korean military announced the launch, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap. The Joint Chiefs of Staff said it detected the launch, without providing further details.

The last ballistic missile launched by North Korea into the East China Sea was on November 7.

This is Pyongyang's first missile test demonstration this year. The missile launch, Yonhap reports, occurred as South Korean President Lee Jae Myung was preparing to leave for Beijing for a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
