Night of rage and clashes in Nanterre, in the western suburbs of Paris, after the death of a 17-year-old - Naël M. - shot and killed by a bullet fired by a policeman.

The episode took place during a checkup, during which the young man allegedly tried to react.

Following the incident, the agent, whose responsibility was ascertained in a video circulated on social media, was arrested and is currently being held in prison. In the neighborhood, however, protests erupted.

Groups of young people erected barricades and set fire to some cars, triggering the reaction of the police who used tear gas to disperse the crowd. At least 24 people were arrested, while about twenty officers were injured in the scuffles.

The episode obviously shook public opinion. "I feel pain for my France," commented French national football star Kylian Mbappè.

President Emmanuel Macron spoke of an "unjustifiable episode" , while Interior Minister Darmanin, in anticipation of new tensions, sent another 2,000 gendarmes to garrison the suburbs of the capital.
