Palazzo Chigi: "Decision on Russian assets not open to qualified majority"
The Italian Government confirms its support for the Regulation, but underlines the need to continue exploring alternative solutions to ensure financial support to Ukraine.

Today's decision on the European regulation stabilizing the immobilization of Russian assets does not set a precedent for moving from unanimous decisions to qualified majority voting. This was clarified by sources at Palazzo Chigi, clarifying Italy's position following the green light to the European measure.
The government confirms its support for the Regulation, but emphasizes the need to continue exploring alternative solutions to ensure financial support for Ukraine, through European loans and bridging instruments, pending the measure's full entry into force.
