In addition to the Valencian Community and southern Catalonia, high alert is particularly high in Andalusia , where the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has launched a red alert valid for the province of Malaga due to "extreme risk" of heavy rain and accumulation of water.
The authorities have decided, as a precaution, to close schools today, a measure already announced yesterday in Valencia and in approximately 60 other municipalities in the Valencian Community and in five Catalan regions of Tarragona.
Furthermore, in the province of Malaga, where citizens received a warning on their cell phones last night from the Civil Protection, around 3,000 people were evacuated from some localities due to the risk of flooding of the Guadalhorce river .
Also due to the risks associated with bad weather, schools were closed in Granada and other municipalities in the province .
