There are at least 85 - and not 61 as initially announced - the cases of significant positivity in the Netherlands on passengers landed in the past few hours and coming from South Africa. This is an estimate from the Dutch Ministry of Health.

The passengers had departed from South Africa after being regularly tested and tested negative for the swab.

It is also almost certain that the first 61 positives detected have contracted the Omicron variant.

According to the Ministry of Health, there is an index of certainty "of 95%" that the South African mutation is the one contracted by passengers, all the main Dutch media write.

From Sunday there is a further tightening in the country, which is already in semi lockdown. Bars, restaurants and all non-essential shops must be closed from 5pm to 5am.
