The victim of the murder that took place in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, is Ornella Saiu. The 40-year-old woman was a bartender at the Sabrina café restaurant, a meeting place for many Italians and tourists in the area.

From an initial reconstruction, an armed man who had arrived on a motorbike entered the room. Without speaking, he approached Ornella and shot her in the head.

All help was useless.

On the case by investigating the police. The murderer, according to initial information, would have worked in the same bar in the past, and one of the leads followed by the investigators is the passionate one. His motorcycle was found along with some clothing.

The investigators are analyzing the images of the numerous cameras installed in the area, one of the main destinations for international tourism in Mexico. In the past, several crimes related to the world of drugs have occurred in the area.

While Attorney General Oscar Montes maintains the utmost confidentiality and the authorities are asking for the "collaboration of the population", the local newspapers are not just talking about a passionate trail. The motive, explains Por Esto, could be linked to an extortion attempt. The newspaper reports that the owners of the Sabrina bar, "who left on a trip a few days ago, had recently had their permit to sell alcohol removed".

The 40-year-old, who had lived in Mexico for 20 years, had an 18-year-old son: the boy's father died a few months ago.
