The bodies of five more women who disappeared in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato over the past year have been identified by forensic authorities in the past few hours.
According to reports, they are five young people between the ages of 19 and 30, all from the municipality of Celaya, who disappeared over the past year as part of the violence committed by drug cartels, primarily the Santa Rosa Cartel. Their bodies were found in wells used as mass graves in a rural area 20 kilometers from Celaya.
Thirty-three bodies had previously been found in the same graves, discovered primarily thanks to the efforts of organizations representing families of missing persons. According to authorities, this is one of the largest clandestine graves discovered in the last two years.
