In the telephone call between European leaders and Donald Trump before the expected phone call between the US president and Vladimir Putin , Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni "expressed appreciation for the willingness demonstrated once again by Ukraine in favor of dialogue and reiterated her hope that Moscow will seriously engage through direct contacts between leaders in a negotiation that will lead to peace".
