The trial to ascertain responsibility in the death of Diego Armando Maradona will begin on June 4 in the city of San Isidro, Argentina. The date was set by the criminal court jury composed of judges Verónica Mara Di Tommaso, Maximiliano Savarino and deputy magistrate Julieta Makintach.

In the case concerning the former world champion, who passed away at the age of 60 on 25 November 2020, eight people are accused, all linked to his medical treatments, which according to the Argentine champion's family would not have been adequate and timely: the neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, the psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, the psychologist Carlos Diaz, the doctor Nancy Forlin (who coordinated the home care), the nursing coordinator Mariano Perroni, the nurses Ricardo Omar Almiron and Dahiana Gisela Madrid, as well as the general practitioner Pedro Di Spagna .

The penalties, in case of conviction, can vary between 8 and 25 years in prison.
