Donald Trump's United States is "progressively distancing itself" from some allies and "divorcing itself from international rules."

French President Emmanuel Macron delivered a harsh speech against the US.   Speaking to French ambassadors, the head of the Élysée Palace evoked a form of "neocolonial aggression" that is increasingly present in diplomatic relations. "The institutions of multilateralism are functioning less and less effectively," the French leader said, adding that we are moving toward "a world of great powers with a real temptation to carve up the planet."

"We reject the new colonialism and the new imperialism, but we also reject vassalization and defeatism," Macron warned, adding: "What we have managed to achieve for France and in Europe is a step in the right direction. More strategic autonomy, less dependence on the United States and China."
