Emmanuel Macron claims his words and, indeed, insists and reinforces them: "We have an objective: Russia cannot and must not win", said the French president in an interview with unified television news, programmed to clarify his statements from 10 days ago about sending troops to Ukraine.

“You talked about sending troops,” one of the two interviewers asked him. « We are not sure we will do it - he replied -, we are not currently in this situation, but for the moment we are not ruling out the option. I claim to have evoked this possibility - he continued -, we have put too many limits on our vocabulary. We are not in an escalation. We are not at war against Russia, but we must not let it win."

The first reaction from Rome was immediate, with the Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, who - on the contrary - "ruled out" the sending of troops to Ukraine. «Because we want peace - he explained -, we want there to be a negotiation, but we don't want to make war on Russia. My defense colleague also reiterated it, we don't even think about sending troops to fight", what Italy is doing is "helping Ukraine defend itself".
