Tragic accident this morning in Vilnius , Lithuania, where a cargo plane, a Boeing 737-400 operated by the airline Swift on behalf of DHL , crashed into a two-storey building while preparing to land at the local airport.

In the crash, which occurred around 5:30, one of the two pilots died. Two other people on board were injured: the other pilot and a crew member.
All 12 people in the affected house, a residential building with four apartments inhabited by three families, survived .

The flight took off from Leipzig, Germany, and the cause of the crash remains unknown. "At the moment we have no data that indicates any explosion on board before the crash," said the head of the National Crisis Management Center, who announced an investigation.

Lithuanian police are talking about "human error or technical failure" but are not ruling out the terrorist possibility: "This is one of the hypotheses and it needs to be investigated and verified . There is still a lot of work to do," said police chief Arnas Paulauskas at a press conference.
