The suicide bomber "wanted to blow himself up in the crowd lining up to obtain a visa" in front of the Russian embassy "but was identified and killed by the guards before reaching his target, the shots caused the explosion", is what says a spokesman for the security of the Afghan capital, Khalid Zadran, quoted by local media.

Russian Foreign Minister Serghei Lavrov said measures to strengthen security around the Russian embassy in Kabul have already been taken urgently .

The Kremlin categorically condemned the attack : "We are certainly talking about a terrorist attack. We strongly condemn such terrorist attacks. Of course, the main thing to do now is to get information from where our representatives, our diplomats are," spokesman Dmitri Peskov told reporters.
