Vandalism against the Mona Lisa, the most famous painting in the world exhibited at the Louvre museum and Paris. A man threw a cake at the armored glass that protects the work, shouting phrases about "saving the planet" before being expelled by security officers.

The smuggler wore a wig, fitted not too tightly on his head, and pushed a wheelchair he was probably sitting in before taking action. It is thought that, having presented himself with that apparent handicap condition, he was allowed to approach undisturbed with the package that contained the cake.

A gesture that has precedents : in August 2011, a Russian woman threw a teacup at the famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci, even in that case the painting had not been damaged. Just like in 1956, when a madman entered the Louvre and threw acid at the painting. While the protective glass was shattered when a Bolivian threw a stone and the painting was damaged in one corner.
