«It went much worse than we expected, we don't see any action that can alleviate my daughter's situation. We were left alone."

These are the statements released by Roberto Salis , the father of Ilaria, the 39-year-old Italian in prison in Hungary , upon leaving the Ministry of Justice after meetings with the Foreign and Justice Ministers Antonio Tajani and Carlo Nordio . Meetings which, according to the father of the Monza teacher of Sardinian origin, who has been detained for months in the Hungarian country on charges of attacking two right-wing extremists , did not have the desired effect.

«We asked for two things – the man clarified – namely house arrest in Italy or alternatively in the embassy in Hungary, but both were denied to us» . For this reason, Salis added, "I believe that my daughter will remain in prison for a long time to come and we will still see her in chains at the trials".

For his part, the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio proposed to Salis senior - we read in a note - the opportunity for the Hungarian defender to insist on the competent body for the modification of prison detention , an indispensable condition for activating the EU framework decision of 2009 and therefore the possible execution of house arrest in Italy.

The minister also explained that the conformity of the compatriot's detention treatment with international standards will also be ensured through the intervention of the detainees' guarantor .
