Ilaria Salis has opened an Instagram profile .

The candidate for the European elections, on trial in Budapest on charges of having attacked some right-wing extremists and for a few days under house arrest after spending 15 months in prison, wrote an initial message of thanks to her companions and strangers. To all those who were close to her and who are her "strength".

The 39-year-old also made a clarification: « I am still awaiting sentence, I risk 24 years of hard prison which is equivalent to approximately 120 years of house arrest. The well has only changed shape, unfortunately they are still in there ."

«Hi, I'm Ilaria Salis and this is my new and only social profile», thus begins the post of the teacher, who as her profile picture has chosen a drawing by Manuela Mapelli which portrays her with eyes of flame.

«First of all, I would like to sincerely thank all of you - friends, companions, supportive people and even perfect strangers - who have been close to me and are supporting me during this difficult period. You are my strength. After 15 months locked up in a Hungarian prison in precautionary custody, I now find myself under house arrest in Budapest, I wear an electronic bracelet and my address is spread on Hungarian neo-Nazi sites . Still awaiting sentence, I risk 24 years of 'hard prison', which is approximately equivalent to 120 years under house arrest. The well has only changed shape, unfortunately I'm still in there. My personal and material circumstances at the moment do not yet allow me to be present and communicate as and as much as I would like. My friends help me convey the most essential messages through this page."

«I also wanted to thank those who gave me the opportunity to run in the upcoming European elections. If now, from the bottom of the well, you can glimpse a glimmer of light it is also thanks to this possibility . Sometimes the hardest experiences - he explained - can offer ideas for growing as a person and laying the foundations to collectively build something new."
