A French tourist was stabbed to death at the market in the Moroccan town of Tiznit. Shortly thereafter, the same attacker moved to Agadir and hit two other tourists who were having coffee at a cafe table.

The police arrested a 31-year-old suffering from mental illness. The surveillance cameras caught him during the actions and he was arrested during the night. At the moment the terrorist trail is excluded, it is more likely that the man acted for the purpose of robbery.

The first victim, 79, was shopping. For her, all the help was useless.

The other two were treated for minor injuries.

Morocco has not received new tourists since November 29, when it closed its borders as a preventive measure against the Omicron variant of Covid-19. However, not all tourists who found themselves in the country at that time returned to their homes.
