A 32-year-old Italian engineer – Mauro Carminati, originally from Stezzano (Bergamo) – died on Friday in Edinburgh from the consequences of an infection.
Carminati – reports the Eco di Bergamo, reporting the story of an aunt – had arrived in Scotland a few days ago for a holiday.
The 32-year-old, employed at Lamborghini , was supposed to stay for only five days, but on April 26 he noticed swelling in his leg, which gradually began to turn black. Mauro then went to hospital. But the infection spread quickly and reached his lungs, causing pneumonia . At that point his condition worsened and the young engineer was transferred to intensive care. A worrying situation that pushed mother Cinzia, father Fabrizio and aunt to go to Edinburgh on May 1st.
«He was still lucid and speaking, then the fever rose and a cerebral hemorrhage occurred - explained his aunt, Marina - initially the doctors thought that it was a bacterium at the origin and they gave him three cycles of antibiotics , which However, they did not produce the desired results. They then understood that there was actually a virus at the origin of the infection."
