Southern California caught in the grip of a tornado that tore off the roofs of buildings and destroyed cars . And the bad weather in the American state is becoming more and more threatening.

A swirling mass of wind — not uncommon in the Midwest — swept through the town of Montebello , near Los Angeles , shattering windows and forcing residents to flee. In the videos, posted by the citizens themselves on Twitter, you can see the fury of the wind that is unleashed on the city.

Subsequent aerial images showed damage to several rooftops, infrastructure twisted or broken, and cars seemingly pushed out of parking spaces. The National Weather Service is investigating the weather event. But the (painful) damage assessment has already begun for the residents .
