Farewell to the oldest woman in the world: she was 118 years old
Sister André entered the Guinness Book of Records last AprilThe oldest woman in the world has died in France. Sister André was 118 years old and her date of birth had been verified and recognized by the Guinness Book of Records which had included her among its records last April 25 when the 119 year old Japanese Kane Tanaka passed away.
The nun died in her sleep in the rest home in Toulon where she had been a guest for some time.
In recent months he had shown particular impatience and even a sort of "tiredness of living": "But God doesn't listen to me," he said.
Sister André, blind and confined to a wheelchair, was born on February 11, 1904 in Alès, her real name was Lucile Randon .
«It is said that work kills, but work has made me live. I worked until I was 108," she explained last April when she became doyen of humanity.
